If we give him this inch will he continue to take a mile?

Of all the political issues going on this week, from the looming government shutdown, the Hawaiian missile scare, and Russian collusion, why are the media outlets/social media so concerned about how tall the POTUS is?  I mean, come on, is this girthier movement really a controversy, let alone a conspiracy?

This all started when Donald Trump’s primary physician Dr. Ronny Jackson recorded his height as 6ft 3in and his weight as 239lb at his recent annual physical examination, making the president’s Body Mass Index (BMI) 29.9, just shy of being categorized as obese.

Now, the issue with Dr. Jackson’s (the official presidential physician) statement (video) is not that the POTUS is bordering on obesity but rather that there is a discrepancy between this medical report and the information recorded on Donald Trump’s driver’s license which states his height is really 6’2, a full inch shorter then what is reported by Dr. Jackson.

So it stands to reason that this is just another example of the Oval Office reporting fake news once again. Most of the US population can relate to this as they themselves have more than likely lied about their height/weight at one point, what’s the big deal? Isn’t it our patriotic duty to indulge in a Big Mac and diet Coke from time to time? It’s just a trivial topic and it’s just an inch, right? So if we give him this inch will he continue to take a mile?

The US population is known for being one of the most overweight/obese nations in the world where more than “2 in 3 adults were considered to be overweight or have obesity and more than 1 in 3 adults were considered to have obesity.” https://www.niddk.nih.gov/health-information/health-statistics/overweight-obesity.
One could even argue that these findings would help the president relate better to the American population, even humanize him beyond his base. This applies to both political parties and everyone in between but for unknown reasons, the President once again does not want to face the true reality of his health and condition and holds firm that he has “incredible genes”. http://www.businessinsider.com/what-is-the-girther-movement-trump-weight-2018-1

Why is this garnering so much attention when there are more important issues to discuss? Is this just another distraction tactic? Given all the controversy surrounding the POTUS since he took office and how his presidency is affecting national and world affairs, women’s rights and the tax plan, the logical conclusion is that yes, this is merely a political strategy to keep the public eye re-focused on trivial issues.

But for many, this is proof that Donald Trump continues to lie to the American people and should not be trusted with running the US government. If he lies about trivial issues, what else is he lying about? It is evident that the American people are demanding transparency from the White House with no avail. So I say to the American people to continue to ask the questions, to continue protesting the issues that truly matter, to inform and educate yourself with a variety of news sources, and most importantly, keep your eye on the big issues that will affect us for years to come and take the trivial issues with a grain of salt.

The Donald, ever the self-promoter, probably cannot resist a height bump when the rest of the physical was less than Iron Man specs, tipping toward morbidly obese with a body mass of 29.9. Seriously, I’m not sure the president thinks that far ahead to believe that a phonied-up physical height extension will take the country’s eye off the real issues such as the government shut-down, Korea, and immigration. Hard to say, though. Love your post.
