Do you want to #BeADragon? Well the Admissions Office at Minnesota State University at Moorhead certainly wants you to attend and they are giving scholarships away just for tweeting! They recently launched a twitter contest to award 6 scholarships to students based on their tweets about why they want to be a dragon and attend Minnesota State!

The rules are easy:

  • Be accepted to Minnesota State
  • Be a full-time student
  • Be creative

The concept seems so simple, yet so cutting edge at the same time.  Minnesota State is meeting students where they are, on Twitter, and making their education more affordable! The contest has already received well over 1,000 entries and if you follow the hashtag you will see that the entries grow every day! Students really seem to be responding and the entries are not only creative but they are definitely unique and showcase the different personalities of the Minnesota State students!

Why aren’t more school’s taking advantage of such contest?

Sure students love freebies like college apparel, swag, and gift cards as contest prizes, but I bet they would love a scholarship even more! Not only is this a great way to engage the Minnesota State community, it’s a great way to get their name out there and reach potential students! This seems like a marketing win-win.

Couldn’t agree with you more, Liz. So simple yet so potentially impactful–both to the university and its creative students. Well done.
