Did you know that Super Bowl 49 was the most watched television show in American history? The record number of viewers were connected like never before as fans, players, and coaches joined in the conversation.
As one of more than 70,000 fans in attendance, I know how loud the crowd was. What also occurred was a deafening roar on twitter. Throughout the course of the night, more than 28 million tweets were sent regarding the game or half-time show.
The most tweeted moment of the game was New England’s Malcom Butler’s game clinching interception when 395,000 people per minute (!) were simultaneously awarded their Phd’s in coaching. Second to the play of the game, Katy Perry’s half-time performances saw an impressive 284,000 tweets per minute.
After the game, Seahawks and Patriots players alike used #SB49 to let the world know how proud they were to play in the country’s largest event.
