Starting today, Apple will start accepting used products to recycle, reconfigure or reuse. Actually, if your product appears to be in good condition and is still operable, they will even give you an Apple Store credit to use towards another purchase. In this article, released by Time.com this morning, Apple announced this new environmentally-savvy initiative just in time for Earth Day 2014.
Apple Executives are very keen on leaving the planet in better shape than they found it and they plan to do their part by limiting their contributions to electronic waste. Apple has been criticized as being one of the largest contributors to electronic waste due to the onslaught of new devices year after year. CEO Tim Cook and Lisa Jackson, Apple’s vice president of environmental initiatives, both support this initiative and hold Apple to following through with this new program.
Do your part today! If you have any electronic devices that you are no longer using, donate them, give to a friend or (if an Apple product) stop by your local Apple store! Go green!
