Another Example of the Internet of Things (or is it the rise of Skynet?)

I just read an article in autoweek on how Audi just came out with a system for their cars that integrates into a city’s traffic light system to help you time traffic lights to optimize your mileage.

I’m not sure whether to be excited or alarmed!  It will allow the car with an auto start/stop system to shut itself off until 5 seconds before the light changes, as well as suggest the optimum speed to time the lights.  It will only work in cities that have a traffic light control system, but it’s an interesting idea, albeit a little scary in that your car is making more decisions than it used it, without your involvement…

One Response to Another Example of the Internet of Things (or is it the rise of Skynet?)

I try to do this when I go up 611 (Broad Street). It sometimes works but not always– meaning if I go, say, 30 mph, I might get more green than if I try to gun through.
