Facebook has been the king of social media for the past decade. In fact, Facebook just celebrated its 10 anniversary.
500 million people use Facebook on a daily basis to keep in touch with friends and family, to share their thoughts, and discover new things about the world. However is Facebook’s appeal becoming less and less with the new teenage population?
A blog post by Social Media Today claims that Snapchat is becoming more and more popular with teens. It is apparent that teens, especially with apps such as Instagram and Snapchat, are the strongest influence in social media. Friends do what their friends are doing creating a buzz and thus more content on each of these apps.
While these apps are gaining in momentum, Mark Fischman CEO of Social Media firm Hyperactive states, “In my history of working in social media, we have seen trends come and go, but platforms are very difficult to kill.”
It is apparent that social media networks are targeting teenagers in an attempt to grow their product. I mean doesn’t every teenager these days want to be like everyone else in school?
