Google Lends A Hand During Boston Marathon Explosion

During the most chaotic time after the Boston Marathon explosions, Google opened its Google Person Finder page to help people reach their family and friends.  As the phone lines were jammed with calls, and as Boston officials were telling people to get off their cellphones to prevent possibly triggering other explosive devices that may have been set, Google was providing a service to help out.  The page is providing thousands of people with a way to reach out when many other digital media is down or jammed.

I think it is very commendable of Google to provide a service that is very altruistic. Google created this service in 2010 to help during the Haitian earthquake, and they opened it again today. And with all of the searches that I use Google for during the course of the day, it is amazing that Google was able to become a real time, meaningful search engine.
